There are 3 dates showing near the grillwork and arches. The first
'774' is the year the Abbot and Bishop Virgil, who came from Ireland
and consecrated the first cathedral. The next is '1628' when the
burned down cathedral was rebuilt. And the final year '1959' is when
the Cathedral was rebuilt after being bombed in 1944 WWII as the dome
was demolished.
