Frankfurt - Rhine Cruise - Cologne
Cruise along the River Rhine from St. Goar, site of famous Lorelei Rock, to Boppard. Lunch at Castle above the river. Day ends in Cologne, Germany’s 4th largest city.  Will visit an impressive Gothic Cathedral.

Cologne - Hamelin - Hamburg
Drive through lower Saxony and stop in Hamelin, a picturesque town of fairy tale fame immortalized in poems by Goethe and Robert Browning. In Hamburg main sights include the inner Alster Lake.

Optional - Harbor Cruise the Port of Hamburg - See Germany’s busiest gateway to the sea. Admire floating dry docks, tugs, and ocean-going vessels and see why Hamburg is called ‘Germany’s Gateway to the World’.

Hamburg - Berlin (2 nights)
From the valley of the River Elbe from Hamburg, across the former ‘Iron Curtain’ to the historic city of Berlin. 

Optional - Potsdam - En rout to Potsdam, stop off at the Wannsee Villa, regularly used by the SS and Nazi Regime for their guests and the infamous Conference in 1942 to plan the ‘Final Solution’. Then tour the Cecilienhof, which witnessed the signing of the treaty which was to change face of Post-War Europe, leaving East Germany and Eastern Europe to the Soviets. Finally visit the Glienicke Bridge, scene of the ‘Cold War Spy Swaps’.

Optional - Berlin by Night and Dinner - Join in the fun of hearty German food, wine, beer, and music.  Afterwards enjoy the illuminated landmarks of the German Capital.

This morning 360 degree view from Berlin TV Tower. See the Brandenberg Gate, Unter den Linden Blvd, the German State Opera House, Reichstag Building, Tiergarten,  and shopping and entertainment district of Kurfurstendamm.

Optional - Berlin’s Secret Past - From the Holocaust Memorial and the nearby site of Hitler’s bunker, visit a remaining section of the Berlin Wall, followed by a stop at the Bendler Block, the Memorial to the Resistance Movement, to learn the plot by Graf von Stauffenberg.  His heroic efforts to assassinate Hitler recently portrayed by Tom Cruise in ‘Valkyrie’. Finally visit the Topography of Terror, an outdoor documentary located on the former site of the Gestapo Headquarters.

Optional - Lake District Dinner - Admire the architecture of this vibrant city as a scenic drive takes us to the green outskirts of the city, used as the Royal Hunting Grounds in centuries past.  Today it is an exclusive residential district  and it is here that we find our charming chalet-style restaurant forming an elegant setting for an atmospheric dinner of German specialties.

A short drive south to Dresden - known as the ‘Florence of the Elbe’. See highlights of this astonishing Renaissance city including the Opera House and Zwinger Palace. Later, consider joining an excursion into the Elbe Valley  to visit the Bastei Belvdere.

Optional - The Treasury and Moritzburg Castle - Tour the fabulous Treasury, now housed in the famous Green Vault, before driving to nearby Schloss Moritzburg, hunting lodge and summer residence of Augustus the Strong.  Go through the richly decorated rooms of the palace, picturesquely located on a man made island.  Time for a stroll on the island.

Visit the Modlareuth Open Air Museum for an insight into the ‘divided Germany’.  In Beyreuth admire the Wagner Festival Theatre. In Nuremberg see mighty ramparts, a bustling market place and St. Sebald’s Cathdral.

Nuremberg - Rothenburg - Munich (2 nights)
Orientation walk of Rothenburg, perhaps the most well- preserved medieval  town in Germany. Sights include half-timbered houses and the old town hall. Shop for wooden Christmas ornaments, then follow the Romantic Road through picturesque villages and pristine countryside to Munich, the lively capital of Bavaria.

Optional - Franconian Lunch and Rally Grounds Doumentation Centre - Enjoy a lunch and drink in the world’s largest bratwurst restaurant, where we set out to take in the history of the Third Reich, the Nazi party rallies, and more.

Sightseeing and Freetime - See the city’s landmarks including the Olympic Stadium, Ludwigstrasse and Marienplatz, famous for its’ Glockenspiel Carillon. Could visit Munich’s fine museums or enjoy a walk in beautiful city gardens.This evening consider a visit to the Hofbrauhaus, the world’s most famous beer hall.

Optional - Hofbrauhaus and Bavarian Dinner - Down in the heart of Munich’s old town visit the world-famous Hofbrauhaus to hear the ‘Oompah’ band.  Then on to a typical Bavarian restaurant  where local dishes and drinks are served.

Munich - Oberammergau - Neuschwanstein - Black Forest (Brietnau)
Head south to the quint village of Oberammergau, where the famous Passion Play is performed each decade. Watch talented local artists at work during a wood-carving demo.  Visit  Neuschwanstein to view King Ludwig’s fairy-tale 19th century castle.  Admire the scenery as you drive through the hills  and lakes of the Black Forest, famous for cuckoo clocks.

Optional - The Dachau Memorial Site - Outside the town of Dachau near Munich the first concentration camp was opened immediately after Hitler’s rise to power.
